Where's Merlin?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

If you see him around, Donald, maybe he can help me with a girl sometime... ;)

Yeah I am here. I was in the US for a couple of weeks with work. Only saw two fith gens while I was there, one in Des Moines and the other in Raleigh-Durham. I got a nice rental car while I was there, a Cadillac XTS-4 306bhp 3.6 V6 AWD, and also a Ford Exporer but that was less fun.

I have to get a rental car next week :scaredtoss: I've seen a lot of V6 Accords about.

Saw one 4G & 5G in New England area and now I'm in Chicago, saw a 5G yesterday. Where I'm staying, 2 blocks west and it apparently gets 'a bit dicey' and 3 blocks north are a strict no go apparently  Was out last night and saw some old old Buick with chrome spinners and neons  not even joking it's like GTA around here at night.

Merlin that car is bloody" orrible!"
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Yes and I was priced out of the Viper. Should have PM'd you but was busy going to bleeding hospitals and other stuff.

You are some sort of sparks so I have a serious question for you or others, no effing about on this one. Came up to the bedroom tonight and I got a strong smell of burning electrics. I have had that on and off occasionally over the last 3 odd years
It comes and goes just in one corner of the room near a plug socket that only has a cordless phone plugged into it now,its usually unused if I buy one of these £10 socket testers would I be wasting my money or would it shed some light on it?Everything works and nothing is hot to touch, just that bloody smell(and lets not go down that path on this thread) Any help or advice is appreciated

personally get some one in of you arent comfortable with it, its one of those things that can go wrong very quickly imo! all it takes is a split second of lack of concentration and boom; fire, death and brimstone!

Does it only smell when you have the cordless phone plugged into it, or when other stuff is plugged in as well? Just thinking that the cordless phone probably has an adaptor plug and it could well be that causing the smell? (it would have a transformer and capacitors in it).

Not sure what cheap plug testers you're referring to, but the ones I can think of just tell you if the plug is live and test the earth and that's it I think??? Not likely to shed any light I wouldn't have thought. If I were you I'd just knock off the fuse for the sockets on that floor, unscrew the socket from the back box and take a good look inside. Or as Phil says, get someone in to look at it if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself...

Seems to be after something has been plugged into it for a few weeks. The cordless phone has only been on it 3 weeks and before that it was unused and yes you are quite correct the phone plug does have a transformer on its plug yet nothing feells hot. Thanks for your reply. I will knock of the power to that circuit tomorrow and have a nose about.
