It's more to make it easier to navigate the recorded content there instead a list of what everyone has, otherwise it would be quite a bit longer (and probably a bit harder to maintain) with 340ish registered users on here I figured it would be better to do it that way, especially since under your username/avatar there is already a field that says your generation, so just rewriting that information seemed a little pointless.

I have said a few times the list is just to make it easier to navigate this particular forum, think of it as a contents page. Unless you have a profile thread your name won't be here, otherwise I'd have to know what every member of the forum has... which is 400+ users.

Unless you have a profile thread then you wont be in this list, otherwise what is the point in the list? That's what the members list is for (memberlist.php).
