Broadband ISP Advice Needed

Post by Pushki » Tue Oct 07, 2014 12:03 pm

Hey guys, I'll be moving house soon and I need to bring my bills down. :(

I'm currently with BT Infinity Option 2, but I'm led to believe there are better deals out there.

My bill breakdown per month are as follows;
  • Line Rental = £15.99
    BT Answer 1571 = £1.75
    Broadband = £28.15
    Calls costing over 40p = £2.50 approx.
    Total cost per month = £48.39
I have quite a good speed at 23.43 Mbps. Unlimited downloads! :hurr:
I don't have/need a TV package.

Who are you with, how much does it cost and are they any good?

Many thanks. ;)

With Virgin.
Provided you're in a cable area, they do a broadband only option (no phone line, no TV) which is the cheapest/fastest broadband only option out there.
£26.50 all in, up to 50Mb.
Everyone else drokks you over with needing to pay for a landline that (if you're like me) you don't use or want, because you have a mobile that has unlimited inclusive texts and calls...

Unfortunately if you're not in a cable area, you do need a landline though :(

Thanks Wurly. That is cheap but I don't have a mobile so I'll need a landline. :(

im with Plusnet, £14.50 line rental & £19.99 for Fibre 8-) so for about £35 pm I get Fibre (around 75mbps) and weekend calls for free. we don't use the landline as we both have work & personal mobile phones.

Plusnet here too, totally recommend them. They offer discount if your username is quoted on a new signup, so I'm currently getting Line rental, Off peak and weekend Calls, Caller ID, and the top unlimited fibre package for £30 a month :D

You didn't say where you were moving to @Pushki, but if you're moving to the Bournemouth/Poole area, try Gigler gigabit fibre broadband.
£25.00pm - unlimited.

"Gigler is not currently available in your area." :(
Thanks anyway Doug.

I'll investigate Plusnet when I get a chance. Cheers guys. ;)

Wow it pays to do the whole play one off another game - as gruelling as that can be. I'm with Virgin and upon renewal I always threaten to leave and go to Sky. No intention at all as I don't fancy a dish on my house.

Latest deal secured last month is:

> Unlimited Broadband - Currently up to 30MB in my area, tested a few times and average around 27MB, which is plenty for my needs.
> Landline - Free Evening & Weekend calls (+1571 voicemail too)
> Cable telly with free Tivo box (great little device) on the M+ package - all basic HD channels free (unlike Sky!), all the usual pause, rewind, recording with lots of memory (never maxed it out yet).

All that little lot for a mere £35.99 a month, that includes the BT line rental. You can make it cheaper if you pay the line rental up front, I did that a couple of times.
