help please :( gen 3 brake lights

Hi all

My brake warning light and hand break light are on and non of my top row of brake lights are working I've changed the bulbs they work for about 2 seconds then nothing and the warning lights come on :(

Any help will be appreciated

Do you have ALB, is the ALB light on?

ALB (Anti-Lock Brakes) light (Called ABS on newer cars). Sensor faults with that can cause all sorts of issues with the brakes. What's the spec of your mk3? Not all of them had it.

To be honest, it sounds like a potential wiring issue to me. Have you tried removing the bulbs one at a time to see if a specific bulb or holder is the problem?

It's 2.0 ex I don't think I have abl and it started of as one bulb I replaced that then went to 2 bulbs now it's all of them :(

Break fluid is fine that wouldn't stop the lights working would it ?

yes anything in the whole braking system can trigger the xmas tree light show that is the warning system a blown bulb or a low brake pad if they have sensors the brake fluid if it has a sensor on the master cylinder
