Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
Do any of you fancy an all expenses trip to Malaysia to help me? I'm bloody serious.

Bizarrely enough, I will actually be in Manilla for a week in December this year.
I know Lisa would absolutely KILL me though if I said I was popping over to Malaysia for a couple of days to work on a prelude though!
Something tells me that Merc might well be up for that offer though...

Hi Simon, sorry to hear about your tragic and unexpected loss. I had a similar experience this summer when an ex work colleague died aged 32, regrettably, at his own hand. What's the issue with needing someone to come out to you? Pretty drastic step. Is it just to deliver parts, or expertise needed on your car for repairs. I'm a bit of a globetrotter, as you know.

Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
@prelude91 thanks for the comments mate. Yes, horrible situation and of course feeling for Joey's parents right now. The worst thing is that it just yet another fatality on the roads here. Absolute madness and it's because of the way people drive here - I tell you mate if there's first world driving standards and third world driving standards then Malaysia has developed 4th world standards. It get worse everyday and I'm afraid poor Joey and her friend will not be the last. Very sad and thanks for your concern and obviously sad also to hear of the loss of your mate.
@mercutio and @prelude91 Guys, I really am serious. You've read about the ongoing disasters with the car. Every-bloody-time I take it on something else has gone wrong or the lazy buggers have not done what they said they'd be doing. The thing with all of this is that I think a knowledgeable person who's not afraid of some serious spannering can actually help me get the damn thing sorted if we took the time to knuckle down and get on with it. You all know I'm hardly Mr Grease Monkey so I'm a little scared to attempt anything but what's p***sing me off is the slip-shod work here. God know's how much I've paid for the 'repairs-that-aren't-repaired' these past couple of months and still, there's things that are supposed to have been done that are left un-repaired. I'm that close to getting shut of it but I feel as though I've put so much into it that to throw it all away now would be tantamount to surrender.
Anyway, it's just a thought and a long-shot but as you can tell, desperation with Blue Beauty is creeping in...

Her second home. Spends more time in the air than a bloody 747.

Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
@wurlycorner Good morning Iain and good morning to all reading this. To reply to your post above I'm going to list the things that are just not right with my car. (in no particular order)
1: The brakes. Am I right in thinking that the right way forward is to get new discs and pads from a genuine source? if that is the agreement then may I ask that you advise me on what exactly I need and if possible, a source in the UK from where I could buy them. (Iain, you asked on the brake forum about the miles with my current new discs. I estimate no more than 1000 miles.)
Actually, rather than trouble you guys with messing about with sourcing, buying, transfer of funds and then faffing about with postage etc, I'll enlist the help of my brother to do the donkey work. I'm really grateful to all of you for the offer but you've already done enough and I think using my brother is the right move. Also, I'm probably heading home for Christmas so I will be able to do my own running around to parts places while I'm back.
If you could give me a brand name of disc and pads you think are what I should buy then that would be a massive step forward. Thanks in advance.
2: Engine idle. Since fitting the fuel flow thing and the GReddy chip the idle is horrendous. It's settling itself at 1000rpm and even then I feel it sometimes searching higher and lower for it's own idle speed. Here I am in a real jam because I believe the only people who can read the chip are the last mob that installed it. I don't know if that correct but I do want this idle thing sorted. Again, I'm begging your assistance on this matter.
3: Engine mounts (and now a horrible clunk and shocking vibrations when I engage reverse) . Earlier this year, I bought 4, used in very good condition, Honda OEM engine mounts from Tim (you were there 12 hours before I got to his place wurly) and although it took a long time to get them here, I gave to the job of fitting the four of them to the garage crew who fitted the GReddy chip, took off the Skunk2 inlet and re-fitted the OEM Honda inlet manifold. Before I took it in I'd never had this problem before but since they did the engine mounts the shaking and vibrations when I engage reverse are terrible. He says the 4 mounts were fitted correctly (I even gave them fitting instructions kindly provided by Tim) but to be honest, I don't think they've done it correctly. I've got this photo below of what they tell me was the wrong one I bought from Tim. I don't know if they're right or not but here's the photo of the mount they took off and then re-fitted because they said the one at the bottom of my photo was not the right one.

4: Orange warning light: Iain, thanking you in advance for your help. I've replied to your PM and just to reiterate, will ask my brother to forward payment to you from Halifax.
5: Engine warning light. This does worry me, a lot. It has not come back on since my trip to Singapore but there must be something wrong somewhere. Again, I'm stuck and have no idea what to do.
6: Rear brake lamp warning light coming on. My dashboard is lighting up like a Christmas tree. It comes on sometimes as soon as the engine starts and will stay on all the time. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it does not. I've asked three or four people on different occasions to check while I push the pedal and all the lights work, including the high-level one in the spoiler. So all the lights work but I'm getting a warning and I have no idea why.
7: Air-con whistle. This I think I can get sorted by the air-con guy I know.
8: Windscreen washers not working. The rear washer works ok but not a sausage from the front. I've poked in a pin in case they're blocked but can't get a trickle nor nothing from them. The bottle is full and there's no leaks I can see. Again, a small matter but a real nightmare on the motorways when the road is dirty. Ideas anyone?
9: Shock knock! Passenger side rear. Drives me bloody mad but to be frank, least of my worries right now. I'll just keep the stereo at 11 and drown it out.
Well there you have it gentlemen, my concise case history of woes concerning Blue Beauty. If there is anything you can do to help especially with written information then of course, I would be very grateful.
Thank you and apologies for my on-going moans. Simon.
