are you sure the rattle isn't just the cat heat shield if the cat had collapsed you would notice the loss of power

Ha ha sorry...I write in massive blocks ha ha.

How would I find out whether the cat has collapsed? Would it be a case of taking it off and inspecting it?

I've taken some more pics of the car and a video or 2 trying to get the rattling. I'll get them uploaded as soon as I can :)

Yep.

Check all the other things we've suggested first though, before resorting to taking the exhaust apart.

Well...as if by magic, on my way home from work tonight the motor just dies completely. I have a feeling it's the bottom end as very shortly before it died there was knocking. Only reason I didn't stop was I was trying to get to a safe place. Long and short is I either need a new engine or to sell the car as money is a bit scrapey at the moment :cry:
