The Sony head unit I've taken out used to do that annoying feature flashing thing whilst it's switched on and in use. It's not possible to switch it off on that one either

It also had, to my mind, the most ridiculous complicated menu system full of loads of jobby you don't want and impossible to find the one or two things I did want.

Top end model, utter bum droppings IMO, but then again it works fine and I'm sure there will be several people that like it. Anyone who wants it can have it for a tenner!

sounds like a piece of black insulation tape could be a good mod....
I managed to turn off the flashing setting on mine but it was buried in the menu.

My Sony head unit does the demo thing when off, I just pressed number 6 and it stops, could be worth a try.

1-6 on the radio station preset buttons, I press station 6 when its of and the screen stays blank.
