I've been peened.
Well, I made a right dipstick out of myself yesterday. I went down to let Jason look again at the wheel nuts and even though I'd emailed the shot you sent Iain, I took a print of it down just so we had a reference to hand.
So Jason takes off the wheels and I'm pushing that photo into his face saying "but look, they should be inside, not sticking out like that!"
Cool as a cucumber he says, "those are of a rear wheel". I say, "don't be daft Jason, Iain knows I'm a dimwit and don't know what I'm talking about, he wouldn't give me duff info as these blokes on the site are not like that."
So, off comes a rear wheel and lo and behold it's the same as your photo.
Cue embarrassed silence and tumbleweed blowing across his garage floor.
Because I skived off most of yesterday afternoon I didn't see any of the posts above so seeing them now has made everything crystal clear. We don't know why the metal thing is a bit longer than yours but Jason took off the nuts and had a good poke around. There's no spacers or anything out of place, the nuts are super tight, nothing's damaged or running wonky so perhaps I've just got some Malaysian market anomaly there. The good thing is that he walloped out the crap old off-target peening and then peened the nuts properly.
Here's the passenger side one he redid.

Anyway, it's all good and thanks for letting me know about peening. I'm now all peened up and ready to go. Thanks to you both for all the help. :D Another great job done and ticked off the list. Brilliant.

No problem, sorry for the confusion... Must not post when tired and stressed out in the middle of a new project!
It's very wierd how comes the Driveshaft stub length is different, but glad the peening is at least sorted though 8-)

Also does sound like you've found a mechanic that isn't a numpty, which is great! :)

Good morning Iain and thanks. To be honest I think it's the length of the 'sleeve' on the bolt that longer than yours. I may be wrong but there does seem a lot of extra metal on there when I compare like for like.
And yes, you're absolutely right. Jason really seems to want to help and is not precious about following instructions that I pass onto him from you guys. It's been a pleasure having him sort out all those ridiculous niggles that have been causing so many of these headaches the past couple of months.
By the way, if I were in old Blighty Iain, I'd willingly come and help you lug around some of those cement bags and chuck out the broken floor as I owe you so much. I hope you get a pair of willing hands.
Thank again and have a great/productive weekend.

Christmas goodies for Blue Beauty

Post by simonc » Mon Jan 12, 2015 3:50 am

Hi all and now I'm on me feet after a dose of British flu that left me ga-ga for most of last week, I've finally got around to unwrapping the goodies brought back from my trip.
Note the over cautious wrapping as it was due in the hold. Think 'Fragile' is made clear enough?

And here's the bits. Thank you @vanzep, @Bartosz and @Wayne2014

Just 'offering the new nostrils up' for a quick butcher's. Nice.

And for no other reason than I think these shots are nice, here's a few from my trip over to Blighty.

It's good to be back and even better was that she started first time with n'er a cough or a whimper. So it's a new year and a list of jobs as long as my arm. Onwards and upwards eh?

Cool
Some pointers:
1. Lude stickers
- clean inside window
- peel off front transparent layer
- align sticker carefully where exactly u want it
- stick and leave for 2-5mins
- carefully peel off backing paper
- VOILA!
