Weird. The one on my 3g was the same as the plug on my 4g (why I was able to fit a 4g alternator instead)

Maybe there's a difference in the plugs between pre-face and post facelift 3gs?

Must be that. It's so frustrating, I've just been quoted £312 for the correct one from my local garage!

Can no-one help me out?

£312?
That's ridiculous...

What's wrong with your old one? Have you not got an alternator repairer near you? (I must admit, I don't now either - they closed 2 years ago :( )

Hi fefe, how do the part nos./ coding on the one supplied relate to the codes I supplied you on my previous post? 300 odd quid does sound a bit steep, however, is that fitted price, or supply only?

As wurly suggests, it may also be worth your while getting your existing one fault diagnosed.

Or recommence your dialogue with Hondaboy and buy his spare for 50 quid as long as it's fit for purpose. The disparity in the prices you've been quoted also suggests there are several different types and outputs of alternator available.

If all else fails then I can test/re build them. Have 2 apart being rebuilt atm.

I'd have to check later, as I'm at work at the mo.

That's for supply only :S

Honda quoted me £399 today (again, for supply), with an ETA mid-way through march!

It looks like it's probably going to be a rebuild job, I just kinda wanted a shiny new one haha.

I just don't have a patience to order a third one and find that's wrong as well, I think I'd take a crowbar to the bonnet if I had to send another one back.

I'm waiting for a reply from hondaboy, but how much would you charge for a rebuild Thebusofwoe?
