Cruise control module - gis a hand guys!

Post by alinton » Thu Mar 05, 2015 8:01 pm

Hi all, I've been on a mission for ages now to try to cure the annoying thing in my '96 JDM BB4 in that the cruise control won't set higher than 62mph.

I assume that if I swap the cruise control module for one from a UK-spec car, then it'd just work.

But I've now tried two modules that I thought were the right ones, and they don't work. The cruise just doesn't set at all.

The latest one I tried - today - came from a '93 UK spec auto (mine is auto too), but no-go.

The car is stock apart from a Spoon-copy ECU chip. And a few other tweaks that wouldn't have affected the electronics.

Any ideas guys? Does anyone have a similar car, auto, 2.2 VTEC etc that DOES set higher than 62? If so maybe you could have a squint and tell me what part number the module is. The last three digits are the pertinent ones I think.

Or, any other ideas?

I am indebted.

Andy

Well I have cruise that I am again removing. UK manual. I would suggest checking the obvious that cruise req to set, clutch and brake pedal switches ect.

I will be completing the install of my cruise control to mine this weekend. It's an ex auto JDM and I'll be using a uk module to remove the limiter. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Great, please do.

A module from a manual car doesn't work in an auto, i know that anyway.

It should work, the pinouts look identical from looking at the manual. Page 23-359 has a lot of test procedures, you might want to run through those to see if you have a problem somewhere.

From my experience, the modules are country specific but not gearbox specific. Swapping a UK one to a JDM car does indeed remove the limiter.

Yes, looking at the wiring diagrams, the CC does not interface with the main ECU at all.
