How aggressive should vtec be
How aggressive should vtec be
Ok this is a properly noob question and o feel silly just asking.
Its only because my 99 5th gen doesn't feel like it "kicks in" (well it did once but not sure if I imagined it)
The power delivery feels very linear but the engine note does get gradually more "vtecy" at about 6k
Anyone in the south east want to take me out in theirs? Tbh I haven't had a chance to go over mine with a fine comb yet.
Vtec not kicked in yo!?

How high will the engine rev when warm and the car's moving? If VTEC isn't engaging then it won't go over 6.5k. If VTEC is engaging it'll go 7.5k+ Ps. Look where you're going!

It gets all the way to the redline without issue but with all the talk I hear of vtec slamming people into their seats (you know how the internet is) I wasn't sure how smooth it would be. I need to get her on the dyno really to see what's what
Thanks for the replies though and im in Dover, Kent. About as far south east U can get XD

currently at work but read that it works off oil pressure and low oil can cause issues with vtec. Just gone out to check the oil level and there's none in there (that's what I get for hastily buying a car)
I was given some spare oil but not much. Its almost at the minimum mark now. Hopefully a petrol station will have some

that sounds fine to me. You have a well tuned and well operating engine, just top up the oil. The vtec 'kick' is a drop in power and torque just before the second cam comes in. A linear power curve is very much more desired for going fast. Be happy, its all good.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.
