If you buy a JDM car with an LSD gerarbox, 5th gear crunch is common.
??????what else but that you consider the JDM LSD to be the one with the problem is someone supposed to read from that sentence? Now, did you miss punctuate it? Was it an error of meaning? Because what that says is that if you buy a JDM with LSD that the 5th gear crunch is a standard issue. It has nothing to do with either of these things is my point.
And I dont know where you get that idea ratty.
5th gear crunch in the lude is caused by the fork selectors. 5th gear and reverse are on the selector. You know when sometimes you go to put it into reverse but it wont go? well that the reverse syncro not slotting home. As we all do, I hope......, you put the clutch back to 0 and the gear knob back and start again...
The problem comes when people dont do this and force it in... this bends the selector fork over time and ends up with a poorly aligned 5th gear syncro. After that its all down hill.
So.. nothing to do with the dif, or the gearbox type but for the fact they ALL share 5th/reverse.
It really depends on how careful the previous owners have been.
This explanation brought to you by Rich at PAW when I asked ages ago..
