Haven't had the breakdown yet. He's estimating that amount. Includes mot, sending off the ecu to be repaired, new cat, work on the brakes (seized caliper) It sounds rubbish now. Makes a horrible hissing sound when I'm on the gas and there's a burning smell from under the bonnet. Proper stressed out

ah wish i could help but what can i do :?

you have my sympathy - ive owned my lude for 15 years and had some pretty bad times with maindealer and suposed specialists..so your not alone

being on the forum has helped me out but im more likely to ask for advice early on if i feel anything is not quite right with lude and ive got some expert help locally so pretty lucky really - you need to find some local lude owners to buddy up with ;)

I'll be going to japfest but it's gonna sound crap! That's if it hasn't burned to the ground before then!

:? What?
That sounds a bit jobby. Sorry :(

 how can he only be giving you an estimate when he's finished the work and given the car back? If he's done the work, he knows how many hours labour and the cost of the parts he's fitted!

Can you take a video of the noise when you accelerate? We should be able to help diagnose that.
Probably a vacuum hose loose or a split on the intake I would guess, but need to hear it to get a better idea.

Ah... Going to japfest, we can have a look then, then. 8-)

He said he hasn't had time to sit down and work it out yet. I have to take it back next week so he can put another cat on and get it retested. It failed on the emissions but they gave the mot on condition he takes it back soon to get the correct levels.
