Some great touches with the switches.

I have to undo my harnesses to reach my
camera :(

My biggest gripe about the car last year. Sitting in the pit lane waiting to go out for qualifying. Cars get let out 4 at a time to do their qually runs. You know you are about to go out next group so I undo my harness, gloves off, try and awkwardly turn round to reach the camera etc.. switch the camera on, then find out that the session is currently red flagged so you sit there with your camera on burning through power and SD card space and not wanting to turn it off again as you might be out on track in a few minutes, but you have no idea

Now its all done by a simple flick of the switch 8-)

SLS 2015 Round 2

Super Lap Scotland 2015 Round 2

Direction - Reverse
Conditions - Warm and sunny

Image

So after missing the first round to the birth of my 2nd child, Saturday was the first day of competition for me. We took the car up on Steve's trailer which made a huge difference.

In practice 1 I was 3rd and in 2nd practice I improved to finish 2nd. 2nd practice sets the running order for qualification. In the practice sessions it was apparent that my competition was going to be a race prepped Subaru Impreza and a BMW M3, we were all running very close to each other.

In qualification in I finished 2nd, 6 100th's of a second behind the M3.
Image

However in the final, where it matters most, we switched positions and I beat the M3 by 4 100th's of a second
Image

The car felt fantastic although due to the pace I was pushing at there was a little under steer on the flat out corners that forced me to wash out a little wider than I would have liked.

Super Lap Scotland 2015 Round 3

Direction - Regular
Conditions - Cold and windy

Image

After winning the day before I was confident that I could do it again as we were racing on the regular direction circuit.

The practice sessions saw me and the M3 trading places only 10th's of a second apart.

In qualifying the Impreza and and I posted exactly the same time to tie for 1st place
Image

In the final I set my fasted time of the day, beating the M3 in 2nd place by 7 10th's and setting a personal best for that direction.

Image

Again the car was amazeballs, able to stand up to the abuse that I threw at it.

Round 3 single lap final

To top off the weekend I was given the award for best drive of the day for round 3 8-) Finishing 15th out of 40+ cars, including beating half of class D and half of class C in the process, not bad for being in the bottom class. So 3 trophies in all for the weekend and currently sitting in 3rd in the championship.

Image

The big "driver of the day" trophy, I dont get to keep it though :(

Great pic of the car with front left wheel in the air there. Shows how stiff it all is now!

That's nothing, during Saturday I hit a sausage kerb with my passenger wheel and the whole car bounced in the air  I'll try and find the vid.

Got to say i am impressed by the consistent good pace throughout the weekend - man and machine were faultless and this put pressure on your competitors right from the start - way to go 8-)

I like the use of the front splitter as a temporary trophy stand
