Welcome Tigger :)

Bit of official Honda Prelude background for you:

The 2.0 non-VTEC engine was originally designed as a 'labor generator' for Honda garages. As the cars are so reliable, the mechanics had nothing to do all day. Honda addressed this problem by fitting a 2 litre engine in the Prelude so it could be ripped out, thrown away and replaced with a H22a VTEC motor.

I believe the same rationale was employed when deciding to fit an automatic gearbox to some 'Ludes too.

and all 4th gens where designed with a built in life period, after which they disintegrated underneath you returning to the earth from whence they came generating sales for the more aggressive looking 5th gen. However this built in obsolescence rather than generating sales killed off the public's love for all things Lude and therefore the 5th gen was the final incarnation.

Merc, are you sure the 3g isn't actually the rust bucket of the gens? :scaredtoss:
I was not impressed with the inside of the roof on my breaker, at all!
Or the sills...
Or the rear arches...
or the rear quarter panel...
:?
or the outside of the roof where it joins the A and C pillars...
:?
or the chassis rail under the battery tray...

I have no problem with your statement except...
