Good info on the autobox ECU also required - didn't realise they were different between vtec and non-vtec :geek:
Speaking from experience man! I've done two 2.3 to VTEC swaps, an Auto and a manual. In both cases I needed to run the trigger for VTEC - oddly the knock sensor cabling was already there :?
I'm really happy that I'm getting responses about this, cheers guys.

How much should I be paying for an engine? And how much labour is involved, cost wise?

In both cases, I looked around and ended up with a JDM H22a engine of known origin for around £300 to £350. Also in both cases, I got several mates round, borrowed an engine crane, and did the work in a day (providing tea/coffee/egg rolls/Irn Bru/Chinese food as required).

It's a good few hundred in labour to pay someone to do that engine swap, tbh (£350 minimum?????)

Ok cheers mate - I think what I'll is look out for a complete car, break it and keep the engine and the parts I need to do the engine change. There are not many import VTEC auto's about these days, ill keep an eye out.

Do you need to find a VTEC auto? Why not use your existing 2.3 auto box?

I thought the same - you can use existing box, but indigo says you need a vtec auto box ecu, hence need to find a donor vtec auto car.

 does anyone have a pic of the autobox ecu? I have no idea what one would look like, but... There's a chance I might have one actually (same reason I have an auto driveshaft - came in a job load of parts that I bought a year or so ago).
If so, that would mean you're only looking for any old H22 with engine loom (much easier to find).

Hello wurlycorner,

Any luck on the above buddy? And the other parts I need? :)

And a question to all:

I'm thinking of asking VTEC Direct to take on the job once I have all the parts - any thoughts guys?

Also, would my existing auto box be able to handle H22A7? I'm getting offered one for £800.

Just spoke to VTEC Direct, they said they can drop in a H22A5 with ECU and engine loom. I would I may need the Automatic Gearbox ECU and Manifold.

He will call me back with some details. If anyone has the original manifold with shield cover and autobox ECU, can you let me know if possible price? Cheers.
