Just idling for all that time?

If so, it shouldn't even be looking at anything vtec related. Did the revs change around the same time as the light coming on? What temp was the coolant gauge at then?
(I'm thinking that sounds around the time the lambda sensor should be taking over from the coolant temp sensor controlling the mixture...)
Most of the time the light was coming on when at slow speeds in stop start traffic but on the motorway at a constant speed it doesn't?
That sounds heat-soak related?

Yes it was just at idle no revs at all. The coolant temp was normal at halfway. Funny you should mention the heat though because I thought it could be something heat related but could never think why that would show a code 21?
Last winter I did notice a few times in the morning as the the coolant got up to temperature it would sometimes go down a bar I just put this down to a sticking thermostat. Do you think it could be related?

Ah. That won't work then
I am working between Ilford and Stratford a lot at the moment, so I could have perhaps popped in for a look next week, but strood is a definite no-no

Well all being good with the mot on sat it will be in bow all next week apart from Thursday. I have been reading up on heat soak it's just strange that it started all of a sudden, no changes to anything just one day it came on. I will check all the wiring Nd pipes around the intake tomorrow but again not sure why that would be throwing a vtec solenoid cel but i will try anything to stop that light coming on.
