Track turbo choice help!

Hi guys.
First of all, Yes I know, there is lots and lots about this on the internet.. Thats the problem.
I just don't know anymore.
My tuner says one thing and my engine builder another.
I just wan't an advice on what turbo I should get for my build H22 time attack lude.

Please no comments like "get the biggest one" or "just slap a PT6262" on..

My goal, Have a drivable track car with about 450 WHP .
important notes:
-don't want too much lag
-gear and rpm controlled boost boost is possible
-limited to a T3 exhaust flange

My tuner says :
GTX3076R w/.82ar is way too small and will cause backflow.
GTX3582R w/.82ar is old fashioned and a tad too small
Precision 6262 is not reliable enough and a tad too small.
he suggests a Borg warner T3 .83 but its bloody expensive.. can't afford the Ballbearing version...

My engine builder says the GTX3076R w/.82ar is the perfect turbo.

The turbo specialist says the GTX3076R w/.82ar will do the trick aswell..

With that my engine does flow like mad... Getting 405 NM out of just 0.7 Bar or 10 psi is very effecient.
It can easy handle 25-30 psi and with a small turbo the T3 just won't cope with the amount of air.
But I don't want that much power just a drivable and reliable setup.

My tuner says the others underestimate the capabilities of my setup and he wants to go BIG , tackling the high power and spooling time issues by gear and rpm controlled boost.

Any tuners or wizzkids here who can calculate something!? I can't get a good outcome with garrets calculator as i'm missing the correct numbers..

I have no experience with (aftermarket) turbo charging an engine or tuning, so bear that in mind. However...

It is pretty obvious from that list that the intake/engine/exhaust will flow absolutely jobby-loads of air and you have tons and tons of fuel available, so it would seem entirely sensible that it will need (or can take) a big turbo.

If your tuner is confident that he can combat the lag with proper turbo control (wastegate/dump valve etc.) and you trust him, then personally I would take him at his word and go with that - you can always tune the power back, if it's making too much.

For me that suggests either saving up to go with the Borg warner T3 .83, or the next best compromise from that list sounds like the GTX3582R w/.82ar , which he only says is 'a tad too small'.

What does he mean by the GTX3582R w/.82ar being 'old fashioned'?

Thanx.. I'm leaning towards the gt35 aswell. The BW really is too much. Must say the gtx35 is about the same price..
Don't know why he says its old, maybe as there is new tecknology available. He probably gets a commission when he sells me the BW

i think wurly is spot on i can see where the tuner is going with his statement as he is probably trying to future proof your build where the gt35 may be on its limit straight away

but now compairing the turbine inducer diameters the borg warner is wayyyy to big.
I need a responsive turbo on the track and not a big snale that only spools above 4500 rpm..

GT30 indc 60mm
GT35 indc 68mm
BWS362 indc 76mm

GTX3576R is my choice at the moment..

have you thought about the holset hx35 ment to spool like a gt30 but flows like a gt35, plus there cheap as chips can pick them up for around £500 new.

My tuner says the BW is future proof .
Still think a gtx3576 is best for my initial goal of about 400WHP but he says I can have a workable power in the low gears and rpm and jobby loads more in the high gear high rpm range if I need it.
So its gonna be the Borg Warner S362

Its gonna take some tuning but gonna have some switches om my dash that will change my car from a monster to the scariest thing you have ever seen
