Are the type s dizzy same as the Normal VTi ones or more specific? And where is the best place to get one from?

Thanks guys... Got a dead car on my hands.

So ratty et al,

if the dizzy has been replaced and this is happening (see below) what could be the likely issue:

"needs a starter motor and has a problem with the distributor. The replacement which I put on had a misfire and kept burning out the coil. I have the original. I burnt the starter out due to the distributor problem "

I'm wondering if I replace the dizzy and starter will it still have the above issues?
Or do I need to do anything else..??

seems to be a problem with the car thats causing the dizzy to blow not sure how an issue with the dizzy causes the starter to burn out though

He has replaced the ignition switch recently. Could that affect matters.

Possibly he's been turning it over for too long without giving it chance to cool down because of the dizzy being blown and, presuming, not giving a spark to fire.

it would have to be pretty constant though and the switch wouldnt really affect that it would start then cut out and then when its gone wont do anything

TBH, if it's burning out the coil, I would start with looking at the plugs and ht leads... A short or low resistance on one of those could blow it.
