Yeah I was looking at some 600's that had an H22 swap done, yesterday (interest, not 'cause I'm gonna go buying lol). Have always liked the 600 though, very good car.

That ATR definitely hasn't been looked after :? I sure as heck wouldn't pay his asking price for it either (even with the stereo gear left in lol). I'd be a bit concerned about how careful a job he'd make of removing that stuff before sale if you don't buy the car with it though!!!

Glad to hear you like the accord idea, makes a lot more sense to me :-)

Im in the process of doing a turbo build with sleeved block etc and the only way I've justified it to myself is if i can take the engine on to my next car so I'll be looking to do the same. no time soon though ;-)

If your engine goes anywhere near a Rover 600, i will personally travel down to wherever you live and petrol bomb it

Naah no chance of that matey, I don't really like the look of them. So I was all set on getting ready to find an accord and swap the engine. I even had a word about renting some space next to a warehouse I use so I could do the work locally. Then last night I walk outside and am caught completely off guard at just how good the prelude looks (from the non rusty side). Fuuuck it's such a hard decision!

Now we're thinking since we'll be able to use the prelude while the nipper is, well still a nipper, we could get it tarted up to look good for 2-3 years, THEN swap to an accord because then it'll feel a lot more like we actually NEED 4 doors. Besides that way I won't have to do all the rust prep myself. I can just give it to a bodyshop and know they'll do a normal job on it which will only last 2-3 years anyway at best.

to be honest mate, my dad had capris when me and my sister were young and he managed just fine so i can't really see the Lude being a problem :)

I have a little un on the way (any day now in fact), and the lude is going nowhere.
Yes, if I add it all up I have spent way more than it's 'worth' on the market at the moment, but, not that I ever plan on selling, that will change anyway. Have you seen the price of even a tidy ford escort now? :?

The thing is, the longer you own a car, the less it's owes you. If I take the total costs of my lude, over the eleven years I've owned it, it's cost a pittance in car terms.
You have done the hard work with the engine etc, spend that bit more if you can and get the bodywork done, you'll fall in love all over again, trust me. When you do have to get something bigger, you may well find you can afford to keep the lude as a limited mileage weekend toy, and have the saloon/estate for family needs. Hence, when my Mrs' golf got written off, I conveniently found an aerodeck for her... :hurr:
