Wasp nest removal

Anyone got any pro DIY tips? It's in my loft...

I went home today to find the house absolutely crawling with wasps. It was like in the Wicker Man but with wasps. I definitely wont be going up there again with a head-torch because they seemed to really enjoy that.

I can see them swarming outside the roof but they seem to prefer to make their way out of the shoddy loft door indoors so I've just taped all the seams around the hatch for now and they don't seem to be coming out. The house is semi vacant so some kind of pesticide is not really any issue. They're pretty dopey, cleared most of them up with the hoover.

Product suggestions, DIY outfits etc all welcome. No petrol. The nest is roughly the size of a futsal ball.

Note: I want to do it myself because I've now had several quotes of around £200 for someone to come and do it

Wait until during the night when they are asleep and fill the nest with ant powder, come morning you wont have a problem anymore.

About 20 years ago my parents had a nest under their house eaves. I 'sprayed' it a couple of times with powder in the evening when the weather was cooler and it sorted the problem

problem is they will be producing queens who will be looking to hibernate in the loft insulation ant powder is a great idea but it will have to go all over the loft now

Can you still get those bug bombs you pull the tab out and let it fill the room full of smoke killing anything that moves?

Someone told me that WD40 is the best solution, but I haven't tried that yet. I don't even believe that but it might be worth the try.

we get the critters on the farm and we have some stuff that kills them off but you can't buy it off the shelf. This stuff should do the same

What the active ingredient?

Cheer for suggestions... normally I'd just wap it with some hardcore spray and stuff it in a bin bag but this thing is pretty hefty
