I'll be easy to recognise Merc. I'll be the jet-lagged bloke with 34 Black and Decker Hoovers on my baggage trolley. ;)
See you at Ringway

I'll post the flight details tomorrow Merc,
Would you mind waiting whilst...
A: I pay a visit to W.H Smiths for a 'Private Eye', 'Autosport', 'Motor Sport' and 'owt else I fancy.
B: I swing by a Gregg's (or Ringway equivalent) for a sausage roll and a Cornish.
C: I smoke a pack of 20 Embassy Regals in world record time with the other tobacco addicts.
D: You put up with my moaning about 'how cold it is in England in December...'
E: You put up with my moaning (more-so), about how everything is so expensive in England.
I look forward to seeing your 'Welcome back Mr Cuthbert' sign at the airport (with doffed cap) upon my arrival... :D

Hi @Mercutio and thanks so much for your kind offer, it's really nice of you to suggest it. However, I've already organised it with my brother who'll be there to collect Linda and I.
Great news on the Greggs, as I'm always in a rush to get to the riff-raff smoking area, I've never actually seen it. However, armed with this news, once I've smoked 20 ciggies in succession, I'll pop back in and stock up on sausage rolls and a Cornish or two for the schlep over to Halifax.
I wish it were October Merc, but the landing is December. Just in time for Jack Frost to be hopefully, nipping at my nose.
Thanks again buddy, ;)

Looks nice a good slot in the current magazines on offer. Not sure on that Saxo being in the background of the cover picture, ' 10 future icons'. Really? :?

Plus right at the back is a R34 GTR - not really in the same league and already an icon.

Saxo vtr is the pug 205 gti of its day (I.e. the best pocket hot hatch of that batch) so yep, no doubt imo it will be a future icon.

just because its the best of the bunch shouldnt mean its a future classic and saying its the 205gti of its day is sooooo full of fail the 205gti broke new ground almost defining the hothatch

I'm not directly comparing the 205 gti and the Saxon VTS in terms of how ground breaking, how good etc. (I'm not even passing a personal comment on the Saxo)
What I'm saying is...
It's a fact - big selling hot hatches always gain classic status.
The 205 was very widely regarded as the best of its batch.
The Saxo VTS was very widely regarded as the best of that batch. It's still a massively popular choice in hot hatch racing series and still has loads of tuning stuff available.
Therefore it is an almost certainty that the Saxo will gain classic status in the same way the 205 did.
