Having had two fuel leaks from pinholes in the tank in the last month (both sorted with epoxy), I'm beginning to fear a new tank will be needed pretty soon when it inevitably leaks from somewhere I can't reach.
Anyone know a good source for one? Decent nick 2nd hand would do the job.
Are the tanks the same across engine sizes and UK/JDM?
And how pleasant a job is it to do? Anyone done it with less than 10 swear words? Or had it done and can give an idea of cost?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

I've removed a fuel tank from the first 4g I broke. It was pretty straightforward tbh. You'll just have the usual risks with seized/rusted fixings. IIRC all the outflowing pipe connections on the top were in good condition, because they're well protected. You access them via a removable panel in the boot floor.
I removed the tank complete with the filler pipes/neck (basically as a sealed unit) because that was easier than trying to body lemonade about getting the filler hoses off while underneath the car (also the easiest way of ensuring crap didn't get into the tank).
I can probably take some pics of the complete unit, removed, at the weekend if you like.
Replacement source will I suspect be the usual - New from Honda, or used from a breaker.
You can (iirc?) get tanks refurbed by places, that will injection line the inside with plastic? (sure I read that in a classic car mag some years ago...)
Don't know for sure, but not seen anything that suggests any difference between ukdm and Jdm.

Thanks guys. Never done a fuel tank before.
I'll maybe give the local H dealer a buzz in the morning and check 4g / 5g compatibility. The Service Desk guy is always willing to help. Their price is probably about enough to kill my car off, though, given that it needs new back tyres too. Plus they probably have to get one imported specially.
Appreciate if you could check that out for me, newkid, if you get a minute.

Hondapartsnow in the US quotes the same tank for 1992-98, and doesn't go any later than 98. Perhaps they stopped selling them over there?

Im sure there is only one small difference between ukdm and jdm in that the jdm tanks have a drain plug and the ukdm ones dont - but i would expect all 4g tanks to be interchangeable.
Ive taken a fuel tank off a ukdm BB1 a few years back and the only real difficulty was the 4 bolts that hold the tank straps up they had rusted pretty badly - so i would give them a clean with a wire brush and a good soaking with some penetrating oil etc
