I had a mortgage with Co-Op.
When I wanted to take the ex off the mortgage, they made me go through a full re-mortgage procedure (ok, I can understand the principle of the credit checks/affordability etc) but they wanted to set up a new account and required me to employ a solicitor to withdraw the funds from them (new account) and then send them back the funds to reimburse the old account.
The solicitor had been doing conveyancing for 30-odd years and had never heard of this BS before.
Worse, they utterly drokked it up - they completely failed to register the money coming back in to them and wrote to me to tell me I was in arrears. Then when I rang them up, initially couldn't find my new record, then couldn't find any update on the old account to show that it was meant to be being closed due to remortgage, never rang me back and whenever I rang them back, they had no record (on either account) from the last time called.
This went on FOR MONTHS.
The solicitor wrote to them twice after.
He never got a reply, either. Fortunately he didn't charge me any extra for the BS they caused.
There was never a supervisor or manager available to speak to.
I forget how I managed to eventually get it resolved (it was such a long drawn out stressful thing that I've blanked most of the details)
Absolute
drokking
Useless
kebabs
Will never, ever use them again.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Coop are so inept they actually provide me with the service I require. That of simple deposits and transactions. No credit, no debt, no BS as you say. No reason to have a branch near me (bloody good job too) because the online system is straight forward and a stack of envelopes to send cheques off to their cheque sorting place.
Its like banking in the early 80's but online.
