Re: Josh's BB4 - MOT Pass

Post by jjmartin349571 » Thu Oct 08, 2015 11:44 pm

So I went and picked up my Prelude from the garage this eve. First time driving it in ages and f*ck me I found the driving position uncomfortable. I must be getting older :? The new pads needed bedding in, so I took it to my local stretch of quiet back road perfect for the task, and I now have nice sharp brakes 8-) There are all kinds of moans and groans coming from the rest of the car though, being laid up really hasn't done it any favours.

Back to the topic of the MOT, here's my initial refusal sheet:

Image

I just got the garage to sort everything as I don't have the time to gentleman's sausage around doing stuff at home anymore, I've not had the bill yet so god knows how much that will set me back as a result :? It's had a pair of new headlights, a rear caliper, front caliper, new pads, discs reground and a few other jobs that just involved labour. There's still a couple of minor bits I need to repair myself, such as the centre gauges have died and some of my wiring has dropped out from behind the dash :?

Either way the largest part is done now, and I can get back to using my lude :) I think it's going to be a fairly lengthy process getting the car presentable though, just figuring out what all the different noises it's making currently are will be enough of a ball ache...

Excellent getting it back on the road  8-)
:? Uncomfortable? Not something 4g seats/driving positions are known for!

Cheers mate, I'm glad it's back on the road as sitting about outdoors was really doing a number on it. Hopefully using it more regularly will help keep it in shape.

Yeah I don't know what was up, just couldn't get comfy - I wonder if the foam in my seat is borked as the base was rock solid. The lower back support didn't feel right either.

I would have said it is just the difference between driving a 4x4 and a coupe, but I've actually been driving the MR2 all week :?

Still not had the bill. Must be having to do a lot of adding up

At the weekend I fitted some LED bulbs to my switches, I reused the little coloured condoms and I'm pretty pleased with the effect:

I'm now on a mission to replace all the other bulbs in an attempt to smarten up the interior.

Does anyone know if the switches in the arm rest are meant to have back-lit symbols? I notice they have an extra bulb holder (and in the case of the fog switch a bulb) but it doesn't seem to be possible to illuminate them (I tried with a bright torch).

Just dropped the Prelude off at the garage. Hopefully tomorrow they will fit the exhaust I bought off @Nitin_s1

Very old photo from my last house, but the exhaust still looks the same :)

I reckon it's going to be very loud... Still not sure if this is a good idea. Guess I'll know soon

Yep it's got a decat, no mid section silencer and the rear silencer is straight through

I've got the OEM air box with a piper cross panel filter in place of the wanky induction kit I used to have, so I'm thinking a Rob chip may be a good investment next.

Parking pole is in a cupboard in my workshop  I've fitted all the wiring and relays, I just couldn't get the front bumper off
