New Lude - Mega Hassle - MOT

Post by vanzep » Mon Nov 16, 2015 10:21 pm

sorry no pics as just got my new lude back from the police this evening :x

bought it on Sunday but never got it back home as the police stopped us just before Lockerbie and impounded the car and charged me and @newkid with motoring offences relating to insurance.

so we had to travel down today with proof of insurance etc - which we had and reluctantly after nearly two hours at the police station they signed the release but stated we would still have to pay the release charges.

so we then traveled 25 miles further to the pound in Carlise only to find the it was closed - so we then had to wait an hour for someone to come and open up and then had to hand over £224 in fees to get the lude back :x

I have never had so much hassle.......

anyway the lude is a nice one - fully loaded BB1 J Reg Japanese Import with LSD,TCS,ABS,DSP,SRS,4WS,CC, Half Mast and strangely enough it has both passenger and driver airbags which is odd for such an early model.
its completely standard with the only exception being a japspeed catback

so looking forward to getting it cleaned up and having a proper look at it tomorrow

will post up pics as soon as i can :)

What an arse  sorry to hear that.

How comes you still had to pay fees if they had pulled you for what turned out to be no reason?

Mb: spec sounds exactly the same as Lisa's K plate (early but fully loaded)

yep the police should have taken care of the fees there and then :(
instead ive had to pay out £224 and petrol for all the extra journeys to and from Edinburgh and Carlisle and half a days lost wages
how can that be just :?

Definitely query that vanzep.

I'd have thought they'd deal with it in a similar fashion to when they raid your house. If they kick the door in for nothing they pay for a new door; if you've been a naughty boy then you have to foot the bill.

Also how do they charge both of you? You can't both be driving at the same time...

:? I'm guessing the plan where the 2 of them swapped seats while doing 117mph weaving through a busy high street, unfortunately didn't escape the eyes of the pursuing police car...

I might have to get some legal advice on how best to approach it from here

I agree with you @Donald and thats what i thought but they were clearly very unhappy at having being proved wrong.

@Newkid was driving the lude with my permission and i was in the Jazz :) so he got charged with driving with no insurance and i got charged with allowing him to do that.....both of us were looking at hefty fines around £300 mark and between 6 to 8 penalty points each
