Japan is such a wonderful place to experience. Fantastic people, so much to see and do, as well as world-class politeness everywhere you turn, they'll even cook your McDonald's burger how you like at Osaka International airport. Beat that Leeds.
A hearty recommendation for an unusual and memorable holiday of a lifetime.

Unfortunately it is HORRENDOUSLY expensive to fly between there and the UK. I looked to go there after the Philippines last November. It was either Australia or Japan. Flights from Philippines to Japan, no problem. Flights back from Japan to UK? OMG expensive! One day...

It's also horrendously expensive when you're there Iain.

My dad lives in Hong Kong. He wanted a flight over Xmas. £3k  . Xmas isn't a thing over there. Everyone works.

What's Hong Kong got to do with Japan :?

I found flights to be reasonably priced tbh... I've had returns to the US for 5-600 and with British Airways you can fly to Tokyo non-stop for close the the 1k mark (for a return, over Christmas). So yeah comparing the price to the US it seems good value. But as Simon says, it is expensive when you get there.
