Ta Donald. I've just done it. ;) That should stop 'em thinking I'm a fat slob with a penchant for oriental lingerie. Phew.

Though as per usual it's a bit misleading... you can never totally opt out.

Dear LG,
I am shocked and appalled by the language on your so-called site. It's obviously a den of iniquity, frequented by persons with foul mouths. I shall be cancelling my subscription forthwith and will be instructing my solicitors to sue for the foul-mouthed-post traumatic stress that I have suffered.
Sincerely,
Bill Anker.

Yep, what Donald says. Turn all that jobby off!

Well I called them this morning and I have to say, much to my surprise, they were fantastic.

Put straight through to a woman who asked me if would tell her the number used, looked it up for me there and then and told me straight away why it was on their record - it was because it was them that had inspected the car for an insurance company when some bint drove down the side of it donkeys ago (which resulted in cat D settlement to me and I then went and had it repaired locally). She then apologised that it had now been used for a sales promotion and asked whether I just wanted my number deleted, or the entire record.

Tbh I couldn't ask for more in terms of how she dealt with it and I was genuinely amazed it was all instant. Normally these places say 'I don't have access to that, I can't share that information etc etc. '.

Obviously there is the wider issue that I wasn't actually ever a customer of theirs and they only had my details because they were asked by an insurance company to quote for a repair (so they should never have recorded my details as being theirs , for marketing purposes) but I'll let that one lie on this occasion, because they were so open and efficient

Prostitutes are open and efficient, doesn't make it OK

Data is such a hot topic right now I imagine I probably could've put the fear into them and spoofed my way to getting hold of the details they have for you.

Good that they were amenable though, as you say.

Amazing how these systems tie in, I answered a call on my landline the other day, the caller asked if I needed pet insurance for 'my' dog called Tyson. Innocuous enough, eh. But Tyson belongs to my g/friend, and she, my g/friend, doesn't know my landline number, and I've never had to use my landline in connection with 'her' dog, and it's not even on his tag, or any other connection with my landline. How did that happen?

This will be vigorously defended by LG's solicitor Mike Hunt!
