My 2stroke 1/5 baja is brushless now and the difference is day and night. Brushless power means a lot of power. I also have some others, mainly traxxas monster trucks - all brushless, and two nitro buggies. I didn't use nitros for a looooong time, and keep them as a sentimental bits as this was where I started my journey. Also have TT-01 set for drift. It's fantastic and very popular, lots of parts available and cheep to fix. But I'm sure there are better rollersthis days as my tt is quite old now.
There is a lot of differences between.
To buy electric you will spend more at start but then it is cheeper to run as you only recharge your battery. It is good to have more then one set as charging always takes longer then avarage running time so you can only swap your batteries and carry on.
Nitros will be cheeper to buy, but a galon of fuel cost you about £20-30 (realy good one will cost even more). It is also easier to get it run for longer as you only refill it. But you need some experience to use it. Every time the humidity or temperature will change you will have to do little adjustments. Also fuel isn't stable if not sealed properly so this will make you to waste some or to adjust your carb as for fuel with less nitro in it.
Also electric cars need less maintance as they are cleaner. You dont have this oil leaking hot alloy lump

In many cases electric one have stronger drive line and it's faster.
But nothing is nicer then sound and smell of burned nitro

So as a starter for youngster I would defo go for electric. As for drifter I would defo go for electric and brushless.
Amen to this. I've seen how they can explode. Not much left from my mates plane4thgenphil wrote:Just be aware of the hazards with lipo batteries.
