How to get a great car insurance deal in 2016...

Hi,

It's always good to know if there are special deals to be had. Maybe deals that are not available to Joe Public. The Chris Knott Insurance scheme is one such deal that rewards car enthusiasts with better car insurance rates just for having joined up with this club/forum.

OK, so what's the deal? What makes it different to all the other car insurance providers?

Well, the insurers on our panel believe that you'll be a better risk than the average driver. So they'll allow us to do all we can (within set criteria) to attract you, including offering very competitive rates. Does it work? You bet it does!...

Today, I was looking at the figures for last month and was really pleased to see that our overall quote acceptance rate was 48%. That means we were the best for 48% of the people who called us. That's astonishingly good.

I dug further and found that (again in December) we retained 81% of clients at their renewal so it's not a case that we hook you in with a cheap rate and then hike it later.

Don't you think it's unfair to offer two different rates for the same car under the same criteria? Why should someone pay more for not being in a 'club'? Don't give me waffle about risk because that's entirely arbitrary.

It is down to risk profiling - those who care about their vehicles and join others on social forums or in clubs do prove (on the whole) to reflect a reduction in risk.

Those who care about their vehicles, yes, I would agree they show a propensity for caring more about their car and how they drive them on the road. You don't need to be in a club or on a social forum to do that.

Let's say there are two identical people with identical cars. Both care about their vehicles a great deal.
A has had their vehicle for n years, but isn't on the forum.
B has had their vehicle for n-1 years, but is on the forum.

How do you justify that? Of course B's premium might be higher to reflect the inferior experience, but you have just given them a discount because they are on a social forum and so are 'less risk', despite the fact that otherwise they are identical?

It's a bit like cats have 4 legs and fur. Dogs have 4 legs and fur. Are all cats dogs or are all dogs cats?

they are not saying being in a club makes you a better motorist but it is an indicator a bit like having 4 legs and fur would mean your an animal rather than a Human(although i know this will start an arguement

)

The issue is applying an absolute, blindly, to a variable. Happy to give you the benefit of the doubt to bring your money in, but not the other way around?

Merc you're missing the point. I'm not disputing that people on forums tend to think more of their car than those that are not.
