Very nice looking 3rd gen, like the fitment of the rims but maybe a little too much stretch on the back for my liking. They're gonna make that jobby illegal you know.

Thanks guys :)

Nope, it's still legal, it's only the tyre tread that has to be under the wheel arch, plenty of people do it :)

I got the coilovers from dcperformance for £610, including a Black Friday discount

I think what farlow is saying is that they are going to make over stretched tyres illegal. The tyre needs to reach the lip to be safe.

Hello!

After the lowering and new wheels I had a weird feeling that I was 100% happy with my car, and didn't want to do any more mods.

The next day I thought screw that, the interior sucks balls so it was time for a re-vamp.

Also, there was a wet patch on the rear seat, so that needed investigating...

So I stripped the entire interior out. Yay no rust!

Image

And found the back seat had done a wee:

Image

And it kept on weeing in my garage:

Image

I couldn't find any evidence of water flowing behind any of the panels, but what's that up there??

Image

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUU

Image

Here's the damage:

Image
Image

Rust removed and treated:

Image

And here's the repair:

Image
Image

It's not pretty, but it's watertight :) And yes I have removed the drain pipe altogether, because it has 3 others, and also there's no way I could get a smooth entrance to a pipe in that corner, so water would have accumulated in the crevasses. This way its a solid water barrier, and easier for the water to flow away and drain down one of the other holes.

Then I got to work on the roof lining, before:

Image

Got some of this:

Image

Glued on some suede:

Image

All done:

And did the sunroof while it was off:

Image

Then I wanted to cover up those horrible plastic speaker pods in the doors:

Image

Both my front speakers had stopped working ages ago, so I got some crappy halfords ones:

Image

They're a bit "bling," so I sueded them up as well:

Image
Image

I also did all the pillars in suede, though no photos of them off the car

The heater knob snapped off ages ago:

Image

But since I've got a couple of 3D printers at work, I decided to print myself one:

Then it was time to tackle the carpet, which was a horrible faded grey blue green colour

Got some of this (I don't recommend using this particular one if you are going to do this):

Image

And one of these:

Image

Then did this:

Image
Image
Image

(Also did the door cards, but no pics of them off the car)

Nice and black, all in:

The old gaiter and knob were looking a bit sorry for themselves:

Image

But since I am a professional door knob designer (seriously), I took a nice one from the scrap bin at work :) It's over £100 new, and made from CNCd and polished stainless steel, and best of all, it fits perfectly on the end of the gear stick, and has a grub screw at the bottom to tighten it into place!

Image

Also made up a new gaiter using the old wire framework. Mad sewing skills:

Image

Then I got some garishly red carpets, and put it all back together:

HERE COME THE RED CARPET HATERS! I realise it's a bit "loud" haha.

Thanks for reading :D

That's a lot of work in a short space of time, well done
I think there are plenty of red carpet lovers in here, on account of 5g sir interiors... :D

Although there are 3 more drain tubes on the sunroof, your car only has to be a degree out of perfect level and only one tube will be in use. If that happens to be the corner you've blocked off, then you will end up with a jobby load of water built up in the sunroof tray I'm afraid, which will either leak out straight away, or slosh over as soon as you move the car. You really need to replace that IMO.

Out of interest, what condition was the inside of the roof panel in? Was it particularly rusty at all? I've seen a couple of 3g roofs inside and they were all bad... :(
