Which bolts were loose on the tie rod? There aren't any bolts?
There's a nut on the ball joint at the steering knuckle and a lock-nut on the tie rod, where it screws into the track rod end.
Does he mean both of those were loose?
The ball-joint nut is a castellated nut with a split-pin, so how does that get loose???

Re: Gayno's 4th Gen
Toe rod is the bar which runs from the front sub frame to the lower suspension arm, there are 2 bolts here.
Worked on it today, had to hammer the bolts loose, so they weren't falling out, but perhaps had worked out slightly resulting in some movement.
All other items take care of, including brake fluid which wasn't below the min mark.

5th gen Sunroof Fitted
Today, the good weather gave me chance to finally get this job out the way!!
The roof has been sat in my garage since Dec 2013 when I picked it up from @rob quilter, and today I finally got it fitted.
I went for the panel only option, and if the amount of light coming through shows I need the shade, then I'll swap the whole mechanism over.
The front does sit slightly proud of the roofline, so I will at some point have to take the roof lining out from the interior and add a few spacers to lower the mech and bring the panel down, but for now this will do.
and from the inside, with the covers fitted

Re: Gayno's 4th Gen
Others have said it isn't too bad. So rather than faff about with modifying the mech and rear roof lining, I've just done the panel for now!
