Don't wish to go off topic but...
Compared to others in it's class how does the stock prelude compare in terms of handling, power, etc, etc?
My own experiences don't really qualify, Corsa GSi was fun but not exactly in the same ball park, after that I had 4 Preludes including the current one. So I don't really have a frame of reference so very interested in your thoughts. I'll confess to having thoughts of going S2000 or the Integra route, (not sure why I insist on staying with Honda in my car choices?), but, I know I would miss the Lude and to my eyes it's definitely got the looks over the other models, (I swear I have to do a double take just to make sure it was an S2000 and not an MX-5!).
So why the Lude?

I've forgotten how many times I've thought about buying a CL7R, then I think about the value.
£1.5k/£2k for a 2003 UK 2.4s or £5/6/7k for a 2003 CL7R? Madness.
Buy a 2.4 and have £5k to spunk out on it.
For what it is worth, I'm sticking with my CH1 ATR and enjoying it for what it is. I won't change it for a 2.4S as it will be a downgrade from all angles and a 1 year newer CL7R isn't worth twice the value of my ATR.
I miss my old Prelude, I really do, it looked spot on, but if I'm honest, the ATR makes me smile so much more when I'm sat behind the wheel.

Personally I think you need your head checking if you spend £7000 plus on a 220 bhp front wheel drive Honda, when you could be in a Skyline, Evo, 300zx etc....
