It has risen from the dead!

It is safe to say I never want to experience that again!

Weekend 1 break the engine
Weekend 2 source engine, travel to Darlington to remove it from a car and get it back up the road
Weekend 3 remove broken engine, clean all bits I need to swap over, install new engine to get it on the dyno in time.

To put that extra level of "drokk-you" on top of everything I am suffering from a virus that gives me arthritis like symptoms so movement is painful and I have low(er) grip strength. But I wasn't letting that stop us from getting the car ready so powered through it

I cant thank my mates/fellow Luders enough, they pulled their collective jobby together to get me out of a proper hole. 3rd Gen Steve (and his apprentice), Vanzep and Doggo all put in shifts.

Saturday was spent getting the old engine out, the most boring part

We didn't get too much done. Sunday though we powered through that, stripping the broken engine of what we needed to build the other one. Lots of evidence of the big end bearings having given up.

By the end of Sunday the engine was in but that was it, it still needed everything on the top and bottom connected up. On Monday morning me and Steve put the rest together, put the fluids in and it started on the first turn of the key. After setting ignition timing it was off to the dyno

I gave it a gentle time of it driving to the dyno (no trailer that time) as it probably needed it. First run on the dyno it made the exact same figure as the last engine, 163 whp. 2nd run was higher but I averaged 165 whp Vs 164 with the last engine. You cant ask much better than that

The dyno operator was laughing at the reproducibility of my set up and his dyno. The torque lines were the exact same as if someone was tracing over the previous run.

In the next two weeks the car needs a wheel alignment and then we are ready for rounds 2 & 3 of Super Lap Scotland!

Steve said you popped in, by that time we had had enough for the day.

Yeah what a time to get ill, was at the doc's today and he thinks it is parvovirus and that that it can hang around for weeks. I hope that wont impact on the next round

if I was closer I would have stopped by to see how its getting on.what sort of weight is the lude after you have stripped it?

The car is 1216kg (minus ballast) with me in it. Without me or the cage the car would be around 1080kg.

Also forgot to say that the clutch slip I was experiencing was purely down to heat. The flywheel showed the evidence of it. You could see heat spot marks around the face of the flywheel but there appears not to be any damage, no raised spots or bumps.
