"More torque" is watching a Ford Gallaxie 500 trying to get up Goodwood's drive with choking smoke absolutely pouring out the clutch all the way up, stopping with no drive at least 4 times on the way!

Let's go with a good old fashioned thread revival..

So, I'm looking at a DC5 this weekend. White on white with red.
It's a shitload of money (£8k) but it's immaculate.
Imported last year with 80k on the clock which is only 50k miles!

BUT

..for £7k I can get a champ white JDM EP3 with 100k on the clock, or a white FN2 GT with 98k on it.
..for £6k I can get a yellow EK9 with 80k on the clock, or a champ white EK9 with 95k on it.

I wish I had driven more Honda's so I could make a more informed choice.

Thoughts anyone?

Fair one Ratty.. although that giant Accord wasn't on my list - and there aren't any for sale anywhere near me.

Having owned an ek9 and 98 spec jdm dc2 and driven a jdm ep3, dc5 and fn2...it all depends what you want from the car really. Handling/daily/exclusivity etc

Thanks dude! This will be a daily driver, I like the exclusivity of the 4th gen Prelude, so I guess that's important to me too.. from the Youtube videos I've seen they are all much of a muchness as far as speed and handling go, the EP3 seems marginally quicker on the straights but the DC5 is better in the bendy bits. The FN2 is only really on the list because it's cheap. There are a million EP and FN shape Civics down here, but I haven't seen a DC5 'Teg down here for a long time. I also haven't seen a JDM EP3 down here either though.. and my question with them is, are they really that much better than a UK spec one?

I'm discounting the older Integra's and Accord's because part of this exercise is to get myself out of the nineties and into the noughties.. If I'm spending a decent amount on a car, I'd at least like to hope for a little more reliability. Know what I mean?

You're not close but... fresh import? Or are you keeping it JJ54321?

Well now there's a question  I am keeping it, but I would sell it should someone offer the going rate for it. That probably makes no sense

But yeah:

It's clean underneath and low miles, and seems to have been well looked after. I don't anticipate reliability being an issue for some time to come, which was a large part of my decision to keep it.

Totally understandable bud. From my experience I would have to say go for the dc5. People will look to the jdm ep3 and be like "oh...There's another ep3. They've just sprayed/wrapped it white". Then fn2 is just another fn2. Don't get dc5s in the UK unless they've been imported. I'm not sure if they're out your price range but have you had a look at the fd2 civic?

Differences between UK and jdm ep3...jdm has championship white paint, lsd and 225 (ish) bhp over the 197 of the UK spec. Apart from that, I don't think there's much else.
