Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
So all the work is finally completed and I drove her for the first time!
I had never felt real Vtec before and I can see how addictive it can get.
Apart from the parts stated in past posts, I've also fitted a new rad and top mounts.
Front tyres have been replaced with a pair of Kumho KU31, tomorrow I'll do the tracking and fit the rears.
Question: I didn't have Honda PAS on hand and I needed to use the car so I used standard dextron3 as power steering fluid. Is it okay to leave it in?
Also, can I use normal manual transmission oil or does it HAVE to be Honda MTF?
Cheers guys. Here's some random pics of the process:

Service manual tells you to use only Honda fluids and the Honda power steering fluid is a different colour as I found out recently (Oem power steering fluid is golden rather than red) but I don't know how different the fluid itself actually is.
TBH I have always used ordinary red fluid in my ludes up until this year and they have always had red fluid in them when I've bought them, so every general garage that has serviced ludes over their lifetimes obviously just uses normal power steering fluid too. This doesn't seem to have ever caused a problem...

Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
Sooo I got the brakes done today which was a relief. When hot, the discs that came with the car distorted badly. Causing brake wobble worse and worse as they heated up. Not cool when you need stable braking on a tight country road.
I got blueprint discs and pads and I'm really happy with the quality of the parts. The pads came with shims and the discs came coated in anti-corrosion which was nice.
I've also picked up a set of MeisterR zeta-s which should be shipped out soon once payment has gone through

Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
It took me a day, but I did fuss about and paint various different parts, sandblast and paint de rocker cover...etc while I was at it. It would have probably only taken up an afternoon or less if not.benthebratt wrote:Loving the progress , did it take you long for cwmbelt change as I need mine doing asap !
