Thread revival!
I have almost never used the cruise control, so tried it today. At 50 mph in 5th, the car wants to surge a little and seems to drive at +/- 2 or 3 mph compared to the setting. It's much smoother at 70 mph.
I'm guessing this is nothing more than a reflection of the engine's torque characteristics, but wouldn't mind a bit of feedback.

So does mine mate.
Maybe its an older setup but I find the cruise control very "on surge" like you said, it seems to maintain speed, then it drops slightly, accelerates by itself and just keeps doing this. Its gets annoying sometimes.

A well lubricated accelerator cable will help reduce the sensations you describe. That was my experience anyway.Free Ranj Egg wrote:Maybe its an older setup but I find the cruise control very "on surge" like you said, it seems to maintain speed, then it drops slightly, accelerates by itself and just keeps doing this. Cheers Norks. The car is going for a service soon so will replace the cruise control part and ask them to lubricate the accelerator cable as well.
