Difference between starter motors

Post by Alandoghale » Fri Jul 15, 2016 9:22 pm

Hello people new to all this forum stuff, a step forward from Facebook etc lol, anyway my starter motor is on its way out and brand new the price is coming in at nearly 300 for just the motor so I'm gonna remove from one being broken, thing is I've got a code on mine saying p5k and the ones im finding even though off the same model and engine size car have p5m on them, is there any difference in these and will a p5m fit into my car replacing the p5k? Thanks [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Welcome.

Believe auto and manual starter motors are different?

What is yours? Manual or auto?

I found this one and the code p5k is the same but the numbers starting sh are different in hoping this is due to it being a 2000 model and mine being 1997

This one is coming from an auto 5th gen and won't fit onto a manual transmission:
