Had the car MOT'd.
She passed, however I got advised the rear brakes are not performing as well as they should.

Time for a refurb before they seize completely...

Even had the dreaded thought of selling my Prelude the other day.... but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
But now it keeps cropping up.
Think I need a strike of inspiration.

Don't make me come over there!

Actually, maybe I should and you can have a spin in mine, see if the A8 route grabs you...

I've thought about a swap so many times.
But always end up with the result, by the time I've spent the money i could have brought a faster car. I guess that's not the point, but if you want to let me have a spin in yours then do feel free.

The lude is so much more than the sum of it's parts though, that's almost the problem!
I've driven a lot of cars and a lot of faster ones, but they were generally nowhere near as fun or involving.
Just to be devils advocate to your example, if you sold it, you probably wouldn't get the price of the excellent respray alone and would definitely have trouble getting another in that condition. It's stunning mate.
I'm a fan of all ludes, but it does seem like your car is screaming our for the engine to match its looks, no offence meant

It's no offence pal.
It's one of the bits which plays with my head, that it's not a VTEC.
Have just seen a H22A7 going which is tempting. Just need to weigh it all up.
She is a beauty to drive. Stunning through the corners. Really engaging drive and gets plenty of looks and admiration.

You are clearly talking me into keeping her. I just need to actually take the plunge and do something with the engine. Turbo. Swap. Etc.

Stick to it's roots, give it an A7 or A8 (probably cheaper to find...) ATR mani and a few fettles. OK, might even cost lets say a couple of grand after all the rolling road etc, depending on how much you can do yourself, but wtf could you buy that looks and drives as good.

What were they comparing them to? Lude rear brakes are generally poor, so don't necessarily get worried.
What is the wear on the discs like? If that fine, then adjustment is your problem. They do need to be properly adjusted as per the manual (including the full slacken off to start with, to check the lever returns to the stop) in order to work to their best. After bedding n, the handbrake will need adjusting again, too.

The discs are alright. Not brand new.
How do I go about getting the adjustment done?

All the instructions are in the service manual.
If post up some pics of the wear across the face of the disc, that will enable people to say whether they think you have any part of the calipers seizing up.

The time has come for me to regretfully put my Prelude up for sale.
I have offered it up Facebook car groups and the such, but I will also put a proper for sale ad on here.

Advertising it for £2200 (you never know...)

However being more realistic I will accept offers of around £1900.

Hopefully if you've followed this thread you've seen a lot of work went into the respray and time.
She is truly a fine example of a 4th Gen prelude.


I will probably come to regret this at some point, but I have my heart set on another car. Something I need to do.
I'll still stay active on the forum as this has been the best forum I have been on in terms of advise, banter, and gay sexual innuendos.
Plus the cars. I guess the cars are kind of important.

Anyway, keep an eye out for the for sales ad.

I got the DVLA notice through to confirm this week.
