That does sound like cam belt vibration, i had this on a b18c4 engine new pulleys tensioner and belt fixed it for me! Not saying thats what it is, just sounds the same as my old aerodeck :) ps glad the screwdriver trick helped a tad

Ummm... Well, its difficult/dangerous to diagnose this accurately from a video, but that sounds more like big/little ends to me? :?

Oh bloody hell really...

It is intermittent, I drive it for maybe 20 minutes earlier simply coz I had to and it didn't make a sound out of place at all.

Gonna take the rocker cover off shortly and see what's going on inside!

Sooooo after a fun filled day, I can now update on the situation.

I managed to get the cam cover off the car without removing the rocker cover with relative ease to be fair.

Once I got that off the issue was very apparent.

The cambelt was flapping around and vibrating off the engine casing, let me know what you guys think...possible auto tensioner failure?

Disconnect Alternator cable and plastic trim on top of the rocker cover, undo both bolts removing earth wires, unclip power steering pipe work from clip on rocker and move as far right as you possibly can, undo both 10mm bolts on the cam cover casing then pull the bottom of the cam cover out slightly to get some movement, then lever the top lip out from under the rocker cover using a small flathead screw driver, have patience and don't be too heavy handed, once the lip is out from the rocker cover its a case of just turning it 90 degrees clockwise and it pops out :-)

Won't go back in like but I wanted to remove it to see if it was the cambelt causing issues before unnecessarily removing the rocker, now I know it's that I'm going to leave it off, not drive the car and let the mechanic reinstall it when he does the cambelt.

In the meantime I've bought an Mx5 with LSD for the month or so the lude spends off the road!
