H22a service advice
I ll be servicing it next week and replacing oil,oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs.
Although I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help remove old build ups of gunk over time and give it a better lease a life.there is old gunky looking oil when I unscrew the oil cap,not much like.
Is it worth upgrading the leads aswell? I don't have much history with the car.
Just looking to try refresh it as much as possible.

If you put metal gasket instead of removing egr, than you should have no CEL. At least for 4th genlewie fraser wrote:I might do that mate,I have no idea how old the leads are.
Is it worth removing the egr valve? I know a lot of you guys do it.will it not throw a code?
Just drill a hole for the vacuum pin and you're set

gunk does seem to accumulate just under the filler cap so not much to worry about
id find a spare rocker cover and refurb it so its like new, swap that over and then just use some carb cleaner and cotton buds to clean the head if your ocd demands it
oem leads have the same resistance for every lead not all aftermarket ones can make the same claim
honda or hamp oil filter are both good - the hamp shortie filter is said to offer a tiny bit more oil pressure
