Early ones like yours were different auto-manual, but thought later 4g's were the same???
TBH i'm not entirely sure...

5th gens don't have the gearbox bracket issue...

My conversion took me 16 hours on the driveway on my own. I'd imagine with a better workspace and extra hands it could be done in 10-12 hours.

Cost of parts? Gearbox price + 150-200 ish?

I haven't the driveway or garage to do it so for me it be some garage to do the work so I think cost of labour be to much there

Ah forgot this was a 5g
Mechanically it's the same job as on a 4g and you can use all the same parts out of a 4g (except driveshafts, if they need changing - not sure on those).
I would think for the engine management you just put the gear selector switch in neutral and leave it at that, but not 100% sure. There are others on here that would know.

If you're paying labour, then ask around how much it would cost to change a clutch. You only need to add on a couple of hours on top of that, max, to change the pedal box, fit the clutch master and change the gear shift linkage over.

Ted, Iain have you been getting my messages? All seems to be getting stuck in the outbox.

Stuck in outbox means not read yet.
Sorry, I've not been on the forum for weeks - too busy with work. I am just trying to catch up, bit by bit and will get to pm's when I can...
