OK, so the first thing to do, is go to the wiki section of the forum and in there is a link to download the oem service manuals for the car. The 5g manual is for a US model (no-one has access to the UK manual for 5g's unfortunately). It's fine for everything other than it doesn't cover the 4ws system and obviously steering wheel /driver controls etc are on the opposite side of the car.

In there you'll find lots of diagrams showing where things are and step-step instructions.
Have a look and see if that helps but come back and ask anything that isn't clear.

I’ve updated my profile to show my location, near Manchester UK. I’ll do some more reading on the wiki and google prelude, will sort out a new rad soon and see how it goes from there.

Just as a heads up, I like my cars rally style minimalist so all unnecessary luxuries will be coming out, carpet, back seats, roof lining, door cards, air con, cruise control, badges, sun visors, stereo, speakers, pretty much everything except 2 front seats a dash and steering wheel although may opt for a momo snap off wheel. This is all when time and weather permits, probably after the new year, so if anybody needs any parts give me a shout.

Lots of reading for me in the meantime

Ask Mercutio if he maybe has any spare time to point you in the right direction.

Problem resolved, I fitted a new radiator and with all your help and reading the service manual I got with the car radiator was bled through the nipple and it drives sweet as a nut now so am guessing the airlock or lack of coolant was telling the engine to shut off.
