Need help diagnosing my lude

Okay guys sorry for a late update but I believe my car is now fixed. I changed over my ignition switch and it’s not cut out for a good 3 days now. I’ve been running it around everywhere and everything seems to be fine, even tested vtec out. You know, for research purposes.
I will also get it fully serviced soon too and hopefully it’ll be even smoother. Thanks for your help, it would’ve cost a lot if I Honda or any garage diagnose it

Nah, I spoke to Honda and they told me it had never been recalled but if I wanted the part it’ll be £73 and a 3 day wait. Luckily I managed to find one for £40 next day delivery.
When I replaced it looked like it had already been done before as it had a load of dirty fingerprints on it, not sure if that’s a good thing or not

Okay so I’ve been running the car a good 2 weeks now without any issues. Short and long journeys, town driving and of course vtec back lane driving.
My car sat at my work for two days whilst I’ve been at work and today it cut out again. I let it idle for a few minute whilst I de iced the windscreen and then it just cut out. It’s the first time it happened without actually driving it. It can’t be the map sensor, fitv, iac or ignition switch because they’ve all been done.
I might see if I can get it scanned again however could there be something else that’s destroying the ignition switch? It lasted 2 weeks with the new one and it wouldn’t go far with the old one. Any help appreciated

If it was a used ignition switch, could still potentially be that at fault. However, I was dubious about that to start with, given you said it was misfiring badly when running sometimes.

Have you checked over all the ignition system? (plugs, ht leads, distributor cap, rotor arm) then after that, I would try the coil.

I’ve checked everything apart from the rotar arm and coil. When I cleaned and sorted out the fitv and iac it fixed the issue of the misfire and my exhaust covering my garage door with some black stuff.
I’ve got my car booked into a garage tomorrow morning, they’re going to scan it and have a look around to see if they can see anything else. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have an answer

Hoping so, for you.
There are (pretty short) limits to how far you can go with computer (code reader) diagnostics on a lude though...

Okay so the garage couldn't find anything. however they noticed my oil was a bit low and they said that in some cars they will cut out as some sort of safety. Since i topped it up its been running fine, although this doesn't really tell me much as sometimes it would run fine anyway. I know this is the problem with intermittent issues but i wanted to check if any of you know if this is actually a thing with preludes?
