Hello - back to Honda
Good job - as you say, peace of mind...
Was that done at Honda?
They used to do a Honda Happiness scheme for older cars, fixed price repairs that were surprisingly affordable. I had my UKDM cambelt done there and it was cheaper than I could get it done anywhere else at the time! (That was about 6 years ago though...

Hello - back to Honda
I got a great quote from Honda - I think it was £250 for the cambelt change, however, the price for the tensioners and the water pump pushed the quote up to over £800....... I ended paying £640 at a garage local to work

Hello - back to Honda
Ah yes, water pump and tensioners aren't a 'planned change' item in the oem service manual. They are 'check and re-use, only replace if needed' items - which is absolutely fine and correct (although after 20 years, they're worth doing once, just to be on the safe side)
When I had mine done at Honda, they found the tensioners needed to be replaced and didn't charge me anything extra for them 'Honda Happiness'

Hello - back to Honda
Did the same last year. Like you say, 'peace of mind' which you appreciate when driving a 20yr+ car.andy50herts wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 9:58 amCambelt, tensioners and water pump all changed, hit me hard in the pocket, but, worth it for peace of mind

Hello - back to Honda
Well worth having some peace of mind in an older car, especially as I do around 2,500 miles a month
