Rain/water spots on windows

Does anyone else have water spots on their windows that won't come off? Seems to be a JDM thing as my DC5 had them as well. Most noticeable on the blacked out rear quarters. What will remove them, normal glass cleaner does not work?

Never heard of it before, id try a bit of liquid lighter fluid (zippo style), that's my go to solvent for cleaning stuff these days (well it works on vintage camera lenses). Id pop some on a cloth and give it a rub, i wouldn't pour any on the glass as there is no saying what it would do to the rubber...

perhaps it was acid rain, or perhaps some kind of cleaner they put on when exported?

I have it on my s660 windscreen. I have tried every single chemical ever, thinner, acetone, kerosene, all windoncleaners.

I them tried a 3 stage polish with 3m perfect it. Nope.

I then went onto french polishing a small area.....nope, wouldnt touch it.
Wiping a blade over the screen didn't do anything.
So that's it nothing can be done I concluded.

My Prelude is fine however.

Sounds like you have covered most bases there Ratty. It must be a common ish problem so I thought maybe there was a product specific for it. Doesn't bother me that much so can live it if there is no other option!

What about clay? I notice if I dont wipe the windows down almost straight away after washing the water spots become very hard to shift.

Must admit, this isn't something I've come across/noticed - can anyone post some pics? I'm curious what it looks like.

Initial thoughts would be try de-ionised water and if that doesn't work... Jewellers Rouge is what glass manufacturers use, to buff out marks.

It's quite hard to pick it up on camera. Imagine you have washed your car in the sun and not dried the windows in time before all the spots dry. It is quite faint on mine but it is there and most noticeable on the blacked out rear quarters. It's 100% an issue that arises in Japan as my DC5 had the exact same thing and so does Ratty's S660. Acid Rain perhaps?

When you first see it, you just assume you have not dried your windows properly, until you get the spray and cloth out only to realise that the spots don't come off
