Finally got a Prelude but need a bit of help!
Hey guys after months of searching I finally found a 5th gen 2.2vti Manual 120k on the clock, full history, everything works - 4ws , cruise control , some tasteful mods by previous owner
Today I noticed a couple of drops of oil on the ground under the engine, I know oil leaks are common with these cars but does anyone know if this is a simple enough fix or if its gonna cost me a fortune, what's the worst case scenario?
Also what oil would you guys recommend I top up with until I can get it looked at? I'm thinking 10/30?
Cheers

Hello and welcome
It all depends where it is leaking from. There are quite a few cheap to replace gaskets and seals where it could be leaking from. Best thing to do is to clean the oil up in and under the engine as best you can, take it for a spin and then try to spot where the oil is coming from. Take some pics and stick them up on here and we will try and help

Easy ones to do are:
VTEC solenoid (top left), just a few bolts. About 20quid
Cam cover. About 30quid
Oil cooler seal (behind oil filter) easy enough but fiddly place. about 10quid big oring.
Hard ones are:
Cam seals
Crank seals front and back and balance shaft seal
Gearbox driveshaft seals possibly
10/30 is too thin. Manual calls for 10w40 - or 5/40 for economy but that's a bit thin for freaking insane or track driving.

Looks like a good example you have picked up there
So from the pic it looks like it is concentrated to the drivers side of the block right? Might be worth doing the vtec solenoid and cam cover seals as they are cheap to do and could be the cause. You may of course be leaking from more than one place. I was when this happened to me.
The best way to tell is to clean it all up underneath and under the bonnet, it may be really obvious then.
