Yes despite my usual fretting that it would fail ... it was a straight pass with no advisories :)
I was worried about exhaust emissions as I had to remove the melted inner from the oem cat earlier this year but it still passed (non cat test as it is a 1991) with room to spare so I might remove that and get a straight pipe fitted to link up the kakimoto cat back with the fujitsubo mani and downpipe.
Ive had a few challenges to overcome with this lude since the last MOT so I am pleased that it passed and chuffed that the MOT tester said the lude was in great shape and it was welcome back there anytime.

Awesome work on this car, as always.
Pleased it passed MOT no problems.

Only just caught up on the thread, hence randomly dragging below from a year or so back

Always a good benchmark. 15.69
The BB1 is a full second slower than my old BB4 so plenty of room for improvement

15.69. :o ;)
14.84 is my fastest at Pod in my BB4 (stock ECU and it's not full light-weight race-car, because I've loaded it up with some sound deadening and stereo because  )

No i am definately the chief with over 25 years of fretting :D
I am reasonably good at feeling mechanical issues but not good with electrical stuff which worries me as the BB1 is fully loaded

BB1 Scrapyard Dog - Big Ass Radiator

Post by vanzep » Sun Jul 07, 2024 5:52 pm

Fitted a Mishimoto Radiator today to the BB1. Fan mounting points did not match up with oem jdm fans so I had to buy a universal 12" fan and a fitting kit from T7 Design. It did the job although it was very tight fit with a few of the bolts at the bottom touching the cross member.
The rad took 5litres of genuine Honda coolant.
New top and bottom coolant hoses (TT Racing) they say for 5th gen but fit 4th fine and were uk stock at a very reasonable price of £32 for the pair.
Thanks to Merlin for taking care of the wiring/soldering. :)

I have also fitted new aux belts and reconditioned alternator (CJP75).
Also fitted spare 4ws unit and all is working well.

Next up is rewrapping of manifold ;)

Some pics of the new radiator & fan
