Type S - Alternator
Speaking of alternators, does anyone know the dimension of the bearings inside? My Lucas refurb has started groaning a little (which changes with electrical load at idle). Given that its not that old, it'd be nice just to replace the bearings (and at the same time switch to a softer rubber belt to avoid overtightening which no doubt led to the bearing failure).

The Honda part numbers for the bearings are in the Honda parts catalogue.
You'll be able to match across from them to standard bearings somewhere online e.g.

Same here, reconditioned UK alternator - I removed the bulbnalla wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 7:48 pmI have a uk alternator on my Type S.
Didn’t know there was a difference at the time. When connected, the battery light doesn’t go off.
Rus at HondR put a break in one of the wires so the battery light goes out.
When switching on the ignition, there will be no battery light, but apart from that works perfectly.

Hmmm beginning to wonder if this is why my SRS light is on
Used an equivalent to the original part listed for the Type S' so I'd hope not. Clutching at straws here

Type S - Alternator
I've just ordered myself a couple of the bearings for the alternator from Amayama. They seem the same for H22 and F22 so suspect type S is also the same.
Honda 31111-PT0-003 - BEARING, RR. GENERATOR
Honda 31114-PT0-013 - BEARING, FR. GENERATOR
I'll measure them when they get here from Japan - then people can source them quickly in the UK instead if needed to fix grumbly alternators.
I also ordered a new pulley, as I suspect that my Lucas refurb, the pulley appears zinc plated (like refurb callipers and the alternator housing), and I think this gives less grip than the original pulley finish (leading to overtightening of the belt, leading to dead bearings again).
I suspect also perhaps the Lucas refurb bearings might not be up to Honda OE requirements. Also I noticed whilst ordering that the pulley is a different part number for H22 and F22, probably for the gearing due to higher BWAAAAAAH on H22. I'll check when the pulley arrives that it matches the one on the Lucas refurb (I imagine the difference is slight and maybe easily missed).
Not sure i'm looking forward to splitting the alternator, but i have various pullers and a small press so hopefully i won't disable the car (still have a spare alternator as a backup just in case!).

Nice work, tackling a strip and rebuild on it, yourself.

It would be interesting to hear how you get on with this

31111-PT0-003 - small one - NSK brand '398' - OD 35mm, ID 15mm , depth just under 13mm
31114-PT0-013 - larger one - KOYO brand '501' - OD 52mm, ID 17mm, depth just under 16mm
Both bearings are of the sealed type. Will write up the rebuild when I tackle it.

I saw a short video clip of srs issue on 5th gen - turns out there is a srs reset switch/yellow connector under/at the side of the steering wheel.
On my BB1 4th gen:
I fitted my refurbed alt and still getting the occasional cat temp/battery light flicking up when slowing to a halt on warm up. So not sure whats causing that - tried aftermarket alt and refurbed both with similar results.
Car starts and drives fine just pain that i cant get rid of these warning lights. Im wondering if upping the idle will sort this.
