The sock is usually held in place by elastic sewn into its neck, aided no doubt by suction from the engine.

The outer end of the filter is fitted with a cone-shaped end cap pushed in fairly lightly:

When the sock comes loose and the end cap falls out, suction can give you something like this:

The end cap was just lying there inside the front valance. The sock went for a walk up the tube until stopped by the throttle body.

Moral? Check the intake end of your long arm CAI on a regular basis!

The original intake box etc is now reinstalled in the car. Then Injen system has a new home. Like this:

Selling it?
I think i might hang on to it for a bit. I'm considering moving the car on.
Not that I know what else to get instead; the Euro R is definitely one of the best cars I've owned.

Why considering moving it on then, out of interest?

Just for a change.

Back when we used to keep a small fleet, there was a bit of variety on offer. Now, we run only two cars and are likely to stay that way. I can't warm to our Volvo V70 but it's handy having an estate car.

It doesn't matter how many cars you own, the wish list never gets smaller.

Of course, you also need to take this into account:

My renting two barns and a garage attests to that…
